An integrated approach to SDG attainment in Cities: Urban Design, Transport and Population Health
September 23rd
Location: The Japan Society, 333 E 47th St, New York, NY 10017
On behalf of the SDSN, and in partnership with the Lancet and government of Germany:
This event will showcase new approaches to integrated policy design to tackle the challenges lain out in the SDGs. Specifically, the event will launch a new Lancet series focusing on the health impact of city planning through transport mode options and choices. The three papers showcased in the series will unravel the complexity of urban design, the transport system and population health, and call for a paradigm shift in our approach to responding to the growing burden of chronic disease and injury in our cities.

Speakers will include Ambassador Burhanudeen Gafoor, Permanent Representative of Singapore to the United Nations, Professor Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the SDSN and Special Adviser to the UN Secretary General, Richard Horton, Editor of The Lancet and a panel of leading scientific experts.
