SDSN Korea, hosted by the OJEong Resilience Institute (OJERI) at Korea University, Seoul and established in 2013, mobilizes its members in South Korea and leverages their strengths to help realize the SDGs. Key focus areas include providing the youth of the country with platforms to develop innovative solutions for sustainable development and linking them with industry experts to help create a new cohort of global leaders. SDSN Korea has also played an active role in the national discussions on policymaking for the SDGs.

The Network and Local Governments Host Youth Hackathon

Since 2020, SDSN Korea has conducted the SDG Youth Hackathon & Living Lab in collaboration with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and several local governments to diagnose the problems and potential of the local community and discover solutions based on the SDGs. One such solution was the OeSeongGong, which published traditional fairy tale books in nine languages and donated them to local libraries.

Network and Partners Adopt Legal Coding on Sustainable Development

SDSN Korea in partnership with the central government, local governments, corporations, CSOs, academic societies, universities, and youth, adopted the Framework Act Law (FAL) on Sustainable Development. The FAL is the highest level of legal code for organizations in South Korea.

The Network Fosters Numerous Youth Activities to Spur Collaborations

SDSN Korea fosters 4,000+ SDSN Youth Korea activists annually in 37 universities across the country. They form an SDGs ecosystem through 17 regional SDG Youth Committees. SDSN Korea holds a General Assembly twice a year to enable 80 youth leaders and the private ad public sectors and academic institutions to pursue collaborative projects.

Project Offers Trainings on Global Citizenship Through a Local Lens

SDSN Korea developed GT(Glocalcitizenship Training), a Korean UNESCO ESD Official Project, and trains SDSN Youth Korea. Since 2019, SDSN Korea has offered 56 lectures. GT consists of the Activist-Leadership-Innovator Course, and as of January 2024, 1,433 youth activists have graduated.
