SDSN Indonesia Mobilizes Civil Society Organizations and the Private Sector for the SDGs
From 7 to 9 February, SDSN Indonesia hosted a virtual workshop for over 40 participants in Bahasa Indonesia.
The objectives of this workshop was to bring together civil-society organizations (CSOs), including non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and the private sector to gain a better understanding of the SDGs on a global, national and local context; discuss the importance of their roles in achieving the 2030 Agenda in Indonesia and globally; as well as exchange knowledge resources related to SDGs learning tools and the Sustainable Development Report.
Day 1 provided an introduction to the SDGs and SDSN, metadata on Indonesian indicators, SDSN’s Sustainable Development Report and SDG resource platform, the SDG Academy Library.
The second day welcomed three speakers from organizations that received the 2022 SDGs Action Award, namely the Karampuang Mamuju Foundation, the Women's Ship Institute, and the Association of Indonesian Breastfeeding Mothers.
Each spoke on child protection, community empowerment, and emergency response to natural disasters (presented by Karampuang Mamuju Foundation); women's schools contribute to the achievement of SDGs goals (presented by Women’s Ship Institute); and empowering breastfeeding mothers for the nation's future health (presented by Indonesia Breastfeeding Mothers).
Participants also gained a better understanding of how SDGs can be applied to institutional activities/programs and how to categorize activities based on SDGs indicators.
The workshop concluded with a series of inspirational sharing on "Best practices from Private Sectors" by PT. Jamu and Pharmaceutical Industries Sido Muncul Tbk.
