SDSN Belgium, hosted by University of Antwerp and Catholic University of Louvain, and established in 2018, mobilizes its members in Belgium and leverages their strengths to help realize the SDGs. Key focus areas include an initiative that promotes higher education programs as key enablers for carbon neutrality and all aspects of environmental sustainability, and a project focused on SDG 13 developing products and services to introduce transformational adaptation processes in vulnerable regions and communities. Titled TransformAr, the project has the participation of 22 partners from 11 countries and will contribute to EU climate change adaptation.

International Conference Highlights ESD in the Great Lakes Region

The first International Conference on Re-shaping Education for Sustainable Development, with the theme of "Re-thinking Holistic Education for the 4th Industrial Revolution," was organized by the University of Rwanda through the Leaders in Teaching project in collaboration with SDSN Belgium and SDSN Great Lakes. It took place in March 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda and gathered more than 300 participants from different countries. Its purpose was the implementation of SDG4 in the Great Lakes region.

Congress Focuses on the SDGs' Role in Flemish Elections

CIFAL Flanders, co-founder of SDSN Belgium, is a UNITAR-affiliated center of expertise on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development offering SDG training, learing and practice. On March 21, 2023, CIFAL Flanders organized a congress in the Flemish Parliament titled ‘SDGs in the 2024 election campaign’. The event successfully brought together over 130 guests to hear perspectives from Flemish political parties and diverse network organizations regarding their visions on the SDGs.
