From its beginnings, in 1962 in Galapagos, WWF granted the necessary financing for the construction of the Charles Darwin Research Station in Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz. Since then WWF has supported a wide variety of projects with an emphasis on the conservation of Galapagos biodiversity and sustainable development for their community. Since 2014, WWF has established a National Office to strengthen its work and expand it to other regions of Ecuador.
