Founded in 2011 at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, the Global Institute for Sustainability (IGS) seeks to collaborate with the private sector to simultaneously promote economic competiveness, natural capital preservation and social welfare. The Institute’s goals are 1) to generate the knowledge on how a global context of limited natural resources and environmental risks will prompt changes in production and consumption systems; 2) to work with the private sector in raising awareness and building corporate strategies about how this new context offers business opportunities for innovation and productivity by including sustainability as a key element of the business model; 3) to develop collaboration between the private sector, civil society and universities to promote business solutions and public policies that enable the transition towards a green economy. We aim to achieve these goals by working directly with the private and public sectors searching opportunities for improving business productivity and innovation to foster economic growth and prosperity while addressing challenges such as climate change and environmental.
