OGS is a public research institute of the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (Ministero dell’Istruzione, dell’Università e della Ricerca, or MIUR). It is an internationally oriented institution, developing its own mission in Italy, in Europe and internationally, prioritizing basic and applied research fields of Oceanography, Marine sciences, Geology, Geophysics, Seismology and aiming at preventing geological, environmental and climate-related risks.
