Akatu Institute is a non-governmental non-profit organization based in São Paulo and, since its founding in March 2001, it has worked throughout Brazil with communication campaigns and education projects in companies, schools and communities to disseminate new values and conscious consumption practices aimed at sustainability. The Akatu Institute contributes to the accelerated transition to sustainable lifestyles, inspired by a society of well-being and enabled by sustainable production and consumption, to mobilize the Brazilian population in this direction by the end of 2022. In 2013, Akatu launched Edukatu, the first Brazilian learning network for sustainability and consumer awareness for students and teachers of elementary education at public schools. Currently, there are over 800 schools registered on our platform, with 3000 students and teachers actively participating in activities. Nowdays, with a network of 25 employees, Akatu develops, implements and manages 25 projects.
