EMOP is a company of the State Government of Rio de Janeiro, under the State Department of Public Works. Founded in May 1975, EMOP was created with the aim of radically transforming the system of civil constructions projects for the public interest.

Today, with almost 40 years of existence, EMOP has been active in various sectors of construction, seeking to meet the needs of the population. Improving and and expanding the infrastructure for education, health, culture and sports, has, among others, been our daily goal. In the state government of Rio de Janeiro EMOP has acted as a pioneer in slum upgrading programs through a partnership with the federal government. Currently EMOP is responsible for maintaining state schools, with 1,311 schools served; 27 Secretary of State Cultural buildings; 22 Emergency Care Units (APU); and 98 properties for the State and Civil Defense Departments.
