In early 2016, the SDSN will transition its 12 Thematic Groups into Thematic Networks to allows for broader stakeholder participation in SDSN’s work around the 12 thematic areas. Additional details on Thematic Networks will be continuously updated.
1) Macroeconomics, Population Dynamics, and Planetary Boundaries
2) Humanitarian – Development Linkages
This new network on Humanitarian – Development Linkages will be co-chaired by Mike Penrose, CEO of Action Contre la Faim, and Jan Egeland, Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Council.
3) Challenges of Social Inclusion: Gender, Inequalities, and Human Rights
Joshua Castellino, Professor of Law & Dean of the Middlesex University School of Law, and Bineta Diop, Founder and President of Femmes Africa Solidarité (FAS) and the Special Envoy of the Chairperson of the AU Commission on Women Peace and Security, will stay on as Co-Chairs of the new Thematic Network on Gender, Human Rights, and Social Inclusion. Middlesex University will serve as the host institution for the Network, and the Pan-African Centre in Dakar will serve as a co-host.
4) Early Childhood Development, Education and Learning, and Transition to Work

This Network will be chaired by Dr. Srinath Reddy, Director of The Public Health Foundation of India, and Dr. Gordon Liu, Professor of Economics and Director of the China Center for Health Economic Research (CCHER), Peking University. The Public Health Foundation of India and the China Center for Health Economic Research (CCHER), Peking University, will serve as the host institutions.

This Network will be chaired by Dr. Achim Dobermann, Director and Chief Executive of Rothamsted Research, and Dr. Rebecca Nelson, Associate Professor at Cornell University. Current host institutions for this Network include: Rothamsted Research, Cornell University, and Columbia University.

This Network will be chaired by Joseph Bell, JD, Of Counsel at Hogan Lovells, Antonio M.A. Pedro, Director of the Economic Commission for Africa Office in East Africa, and Lisa Sachs, JD, Director of the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment, Columbia University. The Network is hosted by the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment.

This network serves as a technical advisory committee to the new Global Partnership on Sustainable Development Data, officially launched in September 2015. The co-chairs of this network are: Shaida Badiee, Co-Founder and Managing Director, Open Data Watch; Robert S. Chen, Director, Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN), Columbia University; and Enrico Giovannini, Professor of Economic Statistics, University of Rome “Tor Vergata.”
