The Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) and Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz) hosted a meeting on Health in All Policies and the Sustainable Development Goals in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from August 19th – 21st, 2015. The purpose of the meeting was to explore what opportunities exist within the framework of the SDGs to advance progress on integrating the global health agenda with that of in other sectors. Given the inter-sectoral nature of many of the SDGs, there is a need for creative solutions to address cross-cutting issues in health, such as road safety, air pollution, early childhood development, and nutrition. Lauren Barredo, Manager, participated on behalf of the SDSN. Participants brainstormed on how to encourage progress on health working across sectors. Future work will fully develop and implement the most promising projects.
