The #urbanSDG Campaign was also represented at a side event at the 1st session of the UN Intergovernmental Negotiations on the Post-2015 Development Agenda. On January 20, 2015, ICLEI and the UrbanSDG campaign organized a lunch meeting on the urban goal and accompanying targets (see full agenda). Cynthia Rosenzweig, Co-Chair of the SDSN Thematic Group on Sustainable Cities, presented key conclusions from the Bangalore Meeting on urban targets and indicators, encouraging Member States to proceed with a “target-proofing” process to strengthen and refine the urban targets and accompanying indicators. Genie Birch, Professor of Urban Research and co-director of the Penn Institute for Urban Research; Andrew Rudd, Urban Environment Officer for UN-Habitat; Yunis Arikan, Head of Global Policy and Advocacy at ICLEI; and Maruxa Cardama, co-founder and Executive Coordinator of Communitas, also presented, reiterating the need for a strong focus on cities and spatial dimensions across the post-2015 framework.
