On November 4, 2014, the SDSN and the World Business Council on Sustainable Development (WBCSD) organized their second technology roundtables, an initiative of the Deep Decarbonization Pathways Project (DDPP), in preparation for COP21 in Paris.
The technology roundtables took place in the context of the WBCSD annual conference, attended by over 500 representatives from their member companies, as well as a dozen CEOs. This second roundtable was an opportunity to delve deeper into analysis of design options for Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) to accelerate of the Research, Development, Demonstration and early Deployment (RDD&D) of some key low-carbon technologies. Working groups were established on Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS), renewable energies, low-carbon transportation, second and third generations biofuels, and energy efficiency in buildings.
The next edition of the technology roundtables will take place in Davos in January 2015, with the intent of gathering CEOs and Ministers to announce the launches of several efforts to build technology PPPs.
