Zubaid Ahmad is a Vice Chairman of Citi’s Institutional Clients Group and serves as a senior coverage banker to a broad group of corporate, public sector and sovereign wealth fund clients, across a number of regions.  During his 25+ year career, Mr. Ahmad has completed a large number of transactions, for both developed and emerging markets clients, spanning mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, debt and equity capital raisings, privatizations and project financings.

Over the past several years, Mr. Ahmad has followed closely the establishment of a number of G2G partnerships in facilitating infrastructure finance in developing countries.  In addition, as recent financial regulations have curtailed the ability of traditional lenders to participate as actively in the project finance debt market, he has also evaluated the potential for a new group of investors, such as central banks, sovereign wealth funds and pension funds, to participate in this asset class.  He has also been a member of the “Citi for Cities” initiative, focused on catering to the needs of a large and an increasingly complex group of cities.

Prior to joining Citi in June 2010, Zubaid served as a Vice Chairman and Head of Corporate Finance – Americas for Standard Chartered Bank. Until June 2008, he held various senior positions at J.P. Morgan, including Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of Americas Investment Banking and Vice Chairman of the Financial Sponsors Group, where he was responsible for a number of the firm’s relationships with leading global private equity firms.  Zubaid received his B.S.B.A from Georgetown University and his M.B.A from the Harvard Business School.
