Manager, TReNDS, New York
Maryam is a manager for SDSN’s TReNDS program working on the POPGRID Data Collaborative and Timely Data for the SDGs.
Prior to joining SDSN, Maryam was a Research Associate at the University of Melbourne where her research focused on the social impact of geospatial information and technologies on the SDGs, a whole-systems approach to disaster management RD&D supporting the SDGs and Sendai Framework, and United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information management (UN-GGIM) Academic Network’s sustainable development initiatives. Prior to that, Maryam was a Research Scholar at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) where she contributed to the EU-Erasmus+ funded project “Head in the Clouds.” Her research explored the integration of sustainability objectives in educational curricula addressing local social, economic, and environmental challenges prevalent among marginalized communities in Europe.
Maryam holds an MA in Anthropology from Columbia University, an MA in Middle East Studies from the American University of Paris, and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Washington. Her academic and professional endeavors have taken her throughout Asia, Africa, Europe, and Australia.
