Keith Shepherd is a Principal Scientist at the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) in Nairobi and leads the Centre’s Science Domain on Land Health Decisions. His research focuses on land/soil health surveillance, design of land restoration programmes, and application of decision analytics in agricultural development. He is a founder of the Africa Soil Information Service and has pioneered a Soil-Plant Spectral Diagnostics Laboratory that uses only light (infrared, x-ray and laser) to analyze soils. Keith also leads Information Systems Strategic Research in the CGIAR Program on Water, Land and Ecosystems. He has 39 years’ experience in agricultural research and development in Southeast Asia, West Asia and Africa.
