Following careers with the British High Commission in Nairobi, Kenya, the World Bank Group in Washington DC, USA, the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) in London, UK, Kathryn McPhail is currently Vice President, Sustainability, BG East Africa, based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

She has authored and published over 40 articles on project impact evaluations in land settlement, irrigation development, agriculture and rural development; public consultation; social assessment; corporate governance in the extractive industries sector; revenue management; and partnerships at global, national and local levels.

Kathryn is a Governor of Court of the University of Aberdeen, UK.

Born and brought up in East Africa, Kathryn is a graduate of the University of Aberdeen (M.A. (Hons.) Political Studies) and of the University of Edinburgh (LL.M).
